Interview with Kim Faulks

I am very excited to introduce to you a fantastic Paranormal author Kim Faulks.  I have had the pleasure of reviewing Hells Angel and Reclaimed.  Kim has been kind enough to do an author interview so let’s get to know this amazing author a little bit better!

1) It is so good to have you hear Kim, for those that don’t know you can you give us a quick and spontaneous intro in 30 words or less?
I work full-time as a Manager in the Security Industry. I am a Mum to two teenagers (shoot me now!) and my passion is to write dark emotive stories.

2) Do you classify your writing into paranormal, horror or urban fantasy? Or do you not like being pigeon holed into a genre?
Genre doesn't really worry me. I tend to write what moves me and I just hope that it moves others as well.

3)Do you feel that demons and other supernatural predators in modern fiction have been dumbed down and become less horrifying?
Yes in a way. The days where these creatures were more feared than fantasized have slowly been over-run by sparkles and teenage angst with brooding looks. But I am doing by bit to change that.

4) At what age did you start creative writing and has your storytelling always has a dark element to it?
I started writing in High School and it always had those darker edges which were remnants of Stephen King and Dean Koontz floating in my head.

5) What other authors inspired your work?
Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Laurel K Hamilton, JR Ward just to name a few.

6) Do you have a dedicated writing area, or do you find yourself writing at every opportunity that you can get?
I usually write in my Study at home, or in my lunch hour at work. But I can write pretty much anywhere.

7) What was the last book you read that you would recommend to our readers?
Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane. She has a similar writing style to me and I really enjoyed her characters and settings. Very cool, check her out.

8) Your Fire & Ice series delves into dark erotica, what made you decide to explore this area of fiction?
I had written one small erotica story to test my writing style and it just seemed to fit into The Fire and Ice Series well.

9) In your Fire and Ice series Natalie your lead character is a female body guard and ex-military. Did you have to research these aspects of your character or was this something you were interested before?
Actually Natalie came to me naturally. I trained as a Police Officer myself and a lot of the moves that Natalie performs in the books has come from my own training.

10) Can you tell us a little bit about what you are currently working on?
I am currently writing the fourth Fire and Ice novella titled, Emergence as well as writing a Psychological Horror novel and editing my Dark Fantasy novel, The Immortal Destiny Series, Book One, End of Dreams. I am hoping to submit this to a publisher for acceptance.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer our questions Kim!  We can't wait to see what happens next for you!

Interested in the Fire & Ice Series, well check out the trailer for the books!

Dean Koontz is a favourite of mine, too. I like the fact that in his books the world isn't coming to an end - only his slice of it is threatened. Doesn't diminish the horror factor one little bit.
I need to catch up with the rest of your writing, Kim. I love your style.
