It seemed like such a good idea at the time ... a wager with the
devious, dangerous and probably quite deranged King Davkosh of the Southern
Realms. Half the kingdom staked in a race between mystery contenders. Ten
leagues, point to point as the –er– crow flies. Drewdop the Illusionist is quick to point out the flaws in this plan and is
tasked with a secret spy mission - to find out just what kind of invincible
champion Davkosh has training at home.
Travelling in magical disguise causes unforeseen complications for Drewdop, while his half-ogre bodyguard, in the guise of a beautiful woman, certainly turns a few heads. But Drewdop soon discovers that the great race is the least of their worries. Davkosh's glamorous, fiery and ruthless queen, Gunora, is massing an army ready for attack whatever the outcome.
Meanwhile, deep in the dark forest, one of Davkosh's elite royal messengers is facing his own perilous destiny - how to become the world's first and only surviving dragon rider...Book Description.

This is a fabulous
story and I enjoyed every page. A great story of honour, righting wrongs,
unemployment and dragons! If you enjoy reading about dwarfs, goblins, mental
royals and of course the Olympics then this is a book for you!
Follow Urkhart the Half Ogre/Human through the town of Reveefton as he starts his new life, only to be judged by looks rather than his multiple language speaking and rather lovely personality. As Urkhart travels around he visits the first ever Job Centre and amazingly enough a job walks straight through the door that is just for him... within minutes! (Now we could all do with one like that in every town aye!) and from there the story really starts!
K D Berry writes
a wonderful world for us all to get involved in, you are carried away
to the land of make believe where you get to hear what people really think (I
have a soft spot for Drewdop!), with all the witty sharp comments I love in a
book, along with Dragons with real attitude, Dwarfs named after their
personalities, and a few special human characters to spice things up! I
truly loved that there is no real Love Story in Dragons Away other than the
love of true friendship! The fact that K D Berry didn't feel the need to fall
in the world of cliché love interests between characters, but felt confident
enough to give graphic fight scene descriptions and write the true meaning of
friendships and how they can grow into
un-destroyable bonds. All of this equates that this is a book for me.
As I have already
mentioned Dragons Away is detailed in its attacks, injuries and vocabulary, so
I would say this is not a book for younger readers.. but this is my personal
point of view as are all book reviews! Therefore I would advise a proof read
before anyone passed this book in to the hands of the younger generation. Give
this book a read, I do not believe anyone would be disappointed!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dragons Away, finding it easy to follow along with feeling attached to the different characters equally and the story line jumps are easy to read and follow never feeling lost or confused.
